Map showing Buntingford 2
Annotated map reproduced courtesy of Googlemaps.
Buntingford 2 bridleway runs from Wyddial Road generally south-eastwards to Layston Church and the metalled road leading to Buntingford 3 bridleway.

We need a volunteer to photograph this route for the Access and Riding Rights of Way Survey. It's easy - just take photographs (safely) when you use the path. Find out more!

BHSAs part of the British Horse Society's work to record paths before Path Extinguishment Day, it was spotted that Buntingford 2 did not reach the recorded public road to the east. The historical evidence showed a continuous route, so an application was made in 2016 to record the gap. The application also seeks to upgrade the bridleway to restricted byway, again based on the historical evidence. The gap is a good example of 'perfectly obvious paths' that would be extinguished by the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 if an application had not been made in time.
