This route starts as Bushey 54 bridleway on Watford Road, passing through a gap on the western side of a gate (pedestrians have another gap on the eastern side). It runs along the field boundary and motorway to Berrygrove Woods. It passes a junction with Bushey 70 bridleway and continues through the woods, becoming Aldenham 76 bridleway, then Aldenham 15 bridleway before turning to meet Otterspool Lane (recorded as Aldenham 22 bridleway). This route forms part of the Hertfordshire County Council-promoted 6.4 mile Abbot Trail for walkers, riders and cyclists. At the time of the BHS 2021 Access Survey (13 Sep 21), the gate had a space to the side for horses and it was signposted at the junction with Church Lane. This route was dedicated by the Hertfordshire County Council as part of the Wall Hall major project following approaches in connection from the Trust, the BHS and others, including the Hertsmere Greenways Project. We are grateful to the Hertfordshire County Council Rural Estates department for agreeing to dedicate this route.

Legal History The Hertfordshire County Council (Aldenham 15, Aldenham 76 and Bushey 54) Legal Event Modification Order 1995 added this path to the definitive map as a footpath. Hertfordshire County Council decided that the route had been dedicated by them as landowner at common law as a bridleway. The Hertfordshire County Council (Wall Hall) Legal Event Modification Order 2015 recorded this path as a bridleway.

Definitive Statement (4 Dec 2015) Path: [Aldenham] 15.  Status: Bridleway.  Definitive Map sheet: 84 Commences as BR from Church Lane (public road) at TQ 1382 9824 thence west along northern boundary of Berrygrove to junction with Aldenham BR 92 at TQ 1344 9829. Continues as FP SW through Berrygrove to junction with Aldenham BR 76 at TQ 1312 9822. Then continues as BR generally NW (past Aldenham FP 91 (Wendy Way)) at TQ 1284 9850 along the woodland track for approx. 670m to join Aldenham BR 22 at TQ 1266 9868. Width: 7m between TQ 1382 9824 and TQ 1344 9829. Varying between 9.2m and 10.4m from TQ 1266 9868 and TQ 1312 9822. Width: Varying between 3.7 metres and 10 metres as shown shaded grey on Parts 6 and 7 of the Order Plan. Limitations: Subject to the right of the owner or occupier for the time being of the land traversed by the BR to stack timber thereon but not so as to totally or unreasonably prevent passage.
