Annotated map reproduced courtesy of Googlemaps.	This route starts on Gaddesden Lane (public road) and heads generally north-westwards to Markyate Lane (public road). At the time of the BHS 2021/22 Access Survey (6 Jan 22), no gates were across the path and it was signposted at each end and easy to follow. Although some parts looked muddy, this was just surface mud, and it was solid underfoot. There were no gates or other obstructions across the path.

Legal History 20 Jun 1953: Great Gaddesen 29 was shown as a CRB (Carriage Road used as a Bridleway) on the original draft map and statement, but was downgraded to bridleway by the Quarter Sessions Appeals Committee for the definitive map and statement. DM sheet DM3-13. 20 Jun 1953: Great Gaddesen 42 was shown as a bridleway on the original definitive map and statement. DM sheet DM3-13. 31 Dec 1977: Great Gaddesden 29 and 42 were shown as bridleways on the special review draft map and statement. DM sheet SR-54.

Path: [Great Gaddesden] 42.  Status: Bridleway.  Definitive Map sheet: 54 Commences at junction with county road south of Stags End at TL 0679 1187 immediately adjacent and to the E of FP42a, thence parallel to and abutting FP42a NW and then NE for approx 210m to TL 0678 1202 thence generally NW across FP41 and past Round Spring Wood to junction with BR29 at Upper Wood Farm.
