At the time of the Patchetts Green Riding Club's 1991 ARROW survey for the British Horse Society, Potters Bar 24 was a cul-de-sac on the definitive map. Information about how this route was extended to Brookside by the creation of a new bridleway is on the South Mimms 76 page.

Legal History Potters Bar 24 was recorded as part footpath and part bridleway on the original (1959) definitive map of Middlesex. Part of Potters Bar moved to South Mimms Parish from May 2008, when the South Mimms Parish was created by SI 2008/43. The path number remains the same.

Definitive Statement (4 Dec 2015) Path: [Potters Bar] 24.  Status: Bridleway  Definitive Map sheet: 78 Commences at Swanland Lane at TL 2316 0243, then generally SW to an underpass under the A1(M) to join South Mimms BR24. Definitive Statement (4 Dec 2015) Path: [South Mimms] 24.  Status: Bridleway  Definitive Map sheet: 78 Commences from Potters Bar BR24 at an underpass under the A1(M), then SSW along the western boundary of the A1(M) to TL 2290 0191. Continues in SW direction to TL 2235 0154, then turns SE following the field boundary to TL 2236 0152, turn SW through gate in fence and over ditch into south side of meadow, to junction with FP30 and BR76. Proceeds in W direction to rails and field gate adjoining 57 Blackhorse Lane. Bridleway ends 20 yards east of Blackhorse Lane. Width: 4m between TL 2290 0190 & TL 2236 0152. Limitations: No limitations recorded between TL 2290 0190 & TL 2236 0152.
