The National Trust's Ashridge Estate contains 13 miles of public bridleways supplemented by 9 miles that the Trust makes available on a permissive basis.
A waterproof pocket-sized riding map which shows all the bridleways at Ashridge can be purchased from the visitor centre.
Permits are no longer needed for individuals, but commercial horse-riding organisations need to have a formal licence to operate on the estate. These can be requested by emailing ashridge@nationaltrust.org.uk. Read more on the National Trust's Website, including an outline map of permissive routes. Note however, that while the map shows bridleways and permissive routes it does not show restricted byways, which can initially be misleading on connectivity. |
