This bridleway starts from
Bishop's Stortford 14 bridleway and runs generally westwards, crossing
Bishop's Stortford 76 bridleway, and ending at a junctins with two footpaths.
We need a volunteer to photograph this route for this year’s Access and Riding Rights of Way Survey. It's easy - just take photographs (safely) when you use the path. Find out more! |

Definitive Statement (4 Dec 2015)
Path: [Bishop's Stortford] 12. Status: Bridleway/Footpath. Definitive Map sheet: 34 Windhill to Bury Green Turn west at top of Bells Hill to north of the Convent. Path here about 6 ft wide between wall and hedge. Pass through hand-gate and by side of College fence. Through another hand-gate and up the hilly meadow. At top of meadow through hand-gate and still keeping west across College playing fields to junction with FP13 & FP14 as a footpath, thence into arable field to south of Park cottages. Follow track and pass north side of Old Stow Pond. Cross private road to Stortford Park and over stile left as BR. Then as footpath cross this meadow to gateway at west end then cross the meadow diagonally to the south of Stortford Park to gate at south-west corner of field. Keep west along the next meadow and over 2 bar stile. The path continues due west across an arable field to pass north of a small mound. It continues west to the south east corner of a plantation where it crosses brook by a footbridge and former Urban district boundary. Continues west on south side of wood as FP28 in Little Hadham parish. Width: 6 ft The cross-reference to FP13 & FP14 should really be to FP13 and BW14. The width seems only to relate to the FP start of this long path. |
