In 1998 there were three equestrian fatalities in Borehamwood. This provided an impetus to create more bridleroutes in the area, including the Parkfields path which opened on a temporary basis in 1999, and was made permanent in 2001.
Local Government: Formerly within Elstree Rural District. From 1974, part of Hertsmere Borough. The Parish of Elstree (now 'Elstee and Borehamwood') was added to the Metropolitan Police District on 3 Jan 1840 and so any commons in the parish are 'Metropolitan Commons'.
