20 Jun 1953: Harpenden 1 and Wheathampstead 2 were recorded as CRB (Carriage Road used as a Bridleway) on the original definitive map and statement. DM sheet DM3-14 (TL11SW) and DM3-15 (TL11SE).

Path: [Harpenden] 1.  Status: Byway Open to All Traffic.  Definitive Map sheet: 55
Commences at Limbrick Road adjacent to Three Horseshoes Cottages, along front of cottages to Bamville Farm, thence between hedges to bridge over railway at district boundary.
Width: 12ft

Path: [Wheathampstead] 2.  Status: Byway Open to All Traffic.  Definitive Map sheets: 55 and 56
Commences from Ayre's End Lane at NE corner of Eight Acre Wood thence W along southern edge of Thames Wood thence SW to cross railway to join BR1 (Harpenden Town) at west railway fence NE of Bamville Farm.
