This route starts at School Lane, Bricket Wood, opposite St Stephen 8 and follows a defined track, fording the River Colne to Crab Lane (Aldenham 22) and Blackbirds Lane (Aldenham 82). It is currently recorded as a bridleway. (There is a footbridge at the side of the ford for walkers.) At the time of the BHS 2022 Access Survey (9 Jan 22), there were three places where there were bridlegates and adjacent field gates across the path. The bridlegates all opened easily. Legal History St Stephen 9 was labelled 'Munden Lane' on the 1838 tithe map of St Stephen. 20 Jun 1953: St Stephen 9 was recorded as bridleway on the original definitive map. 20 Jun 1953: Aldenham 62 was recorded as bridleway on the original definitive map following an objection (Obj 39b) at the draft map stage where it had been omitted. 31 Mar 2013: Application made to record restricted byway rights.
