This route runs from Crossoaks Lane (public road), just east of Crossoaks Farm and close to Shenley 37 bridleway, northwards to Mimms Lane, and close to Shenley 33 byway. The diverted route (from June 2023) touches the metropolitan common, on which riders have rights of access
We need a volunteer to photograph this route for this year's Access and Riding Rights of Way Survey as the photographs shown are now more than ten years old. It's easy - just take photographs (safely) when you use the path. Find out more! |

The original route of Shenley 39 and Ridge 39 was recorded following the application by the BHS local access officer (and the Trust's Secretary), based on historical evidence. It is part of the ancient Packhorse Lane.As part of the confirmation process, the BHS and PGBT agreed to the diversion of the route out of the farmyard. The diversion order (as made in 2017) did not quite achieve the agreed route, and so representations were made. These were accepted by all parties, and in June 2023, the Inspector confirmed the order with the modifications needed to ensure the new alignment of the bridleway touched the edge of the metropolitan common (on which equestrians have riding rights). We are pleased to have been able to help get the route optimised here. | ||||
