PG: OBJECTS: PROMOTION: Watford Rural 14 FP, Harrow 21 FP, and Harrow 19 BW (desired as a bridleway through route)
Map showing recorded paths
Map data from © OpenStreetMap and Hertfordshire County Council.
This route starts from Oxhey Lane (public road) opposite Little Oxhey Lane (public road), and continues generally eastwards then southeastwards to cross the county boundary into Harrow where it continues (as Harrow 21 footpath) to a juntion with Harrow 20 footpath and then continues (as Harrow 19 bridleway) to Old Redding (public road).

We need a volunteer to photograph this route for the Access and Riding Rights of Way Survey. It's easy - just take photographs (safely) when you use the path. Find out more!

PGBT This would be a good route to raise to bridleway status so that it could be used by riders and cyclists as well as walkers. Upgrading Watford Rural 14 footpath and Harrow 21 footpath would stop Harrow 19 bridleway being a cul-de-sac on the definitive map. It would serve riders in Harrow wishing to reach Oxhey by providing a route other than the busy A4008 Oxhey Lane. The 2023 planning application would have needed the diversion of Watford Rural 14 footpath, which would have provided an opportunity to achieve an upgrade, but as the development was turned down, this didn’t happen.

Legal History
1 Aug 1953: Harrow 19 was shown as a bridleway on the Middlesex draft map and statement. Sheet: Middx 5 SE.
1 Aug 1953: Harrow 21 was shown as a footpath on the Middlesex draft map and statement. Sheet: Middx 5 SE.
6 Oct 2023: Planning application 23/1692/FUL to Three Rivers District Council would require Watford Rural 14 FP to be diverted. The proposed route is on wider track that would carry a bridleway easily. The planning application was turned down by TRDC on 22 Jan 2024.
